Politics of Prohibiton
It refers Bihar High Court quashing prohibition-order in the state. It is well-known that the main ally RJD in Bihar Government has never been comfortable with Chief Minister of state having fulfilled his pre-poll promise to implement prohibition in the state. It also led Bihar Chief Minister succumbing to RJD's pressure earlier by lifting ban on sale and consumption of 'toddy' after total prohibition was implemented in the state in April 2016.

Bihar Chief Minister should take steps to draft a new practical law on prohibition based on comments made by Bihar High Court in its order quashing prohibition in the state. Ban should also include "toddy'. Otherwise affording rich will continue harming themselves through smuggled whisky or by going on whisky-tourism to bordering states like Jharkhand and UP. The poor will be satisfied through permitted open sale and consumption of 'toddy'.
