Press Release 30-08-2012
Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee. India
Condemn the blockade of TCN news website pages by Govt of India
Demand to Respect the democratic values, Reinstate the web pages and Tender Apology to TCN
Civil liberties Monitoring Committee strongly condemn the blockade of the TCN news website pages which contains the stories of Madhya Pradesh and Mathura. Committee states that Govt. of India by taking the advantage of Assam and Burma’s situation and in the name of prevention of rumors is trying to censor web journalism and using this as an excuse to stop truth and facts from reaching to the people because Govt. of India and its agencies doesn’t want that reality exposed which are present on TCN pages.. This act of blockading the web pages is based up on wrong intention to target and suppress the voice of voice less people. It also reflects the undemocratic and fascist nature of Govt. of India towards a particular media and community
TCN is working tirelessly to provide truth and facts about the issues which Govt. and its agencies always want to hide from citizens of this country. TCN by adhering to journalistic ethics and values in the stream of English journalism have made recognition as a proficient international news website and is very popular in Asia, Middle East, Europe and America and millions of viewers getting information by its free and fare news and articles.
Its Chief Editor Mr. Kashif ul Huda with his own means, hard work and efforts have exposed the injustice and oppression suffered by Muslims in India in the name of fighting terrorism.
TCN has made a special series which showed the painful stories of hundreds of Muslim youths of Madhya Pradesh who are being targeted in the name of SIMI. And by this courage’s act of TCN, reality was exposed to the people of the world that how Indian Muslims were terrorized in the name of fighting terrorism and those were the sorrow stories which was largely ‘unheard and unspoken’.
This operation of TCN exposed the actual side of the Govt. of India throughout the world. An embarrass Govt. of India misused the situation of Assam and Burma and the exodus of North East Indians from south Indian cities to block TCN special series ‘Terror stories of Madhya Pradesh’ and another article on Mathura communal violence in last June. Although none of these pages have nothing to do with Assam and Myanmar and circulation of false rumors against NE Indians. Surely govt. has acted with malafied intention to curb the voice of TCN, which is being raised for the oppressed Muslims of India.
CLMC believe that this act of Govt. of India is against freedom of speech and expression which is provided under Article 19 of the constitution and is an open onslaught on the freedom of press. Journalism has been accepted as a strong pillar of democracy and putting restrictions on it with bad intentions is violation of democratic rights. Civil liberties appeal to print and electronic media houses and all the Mass organizations and specially intellectuals and the people who believed democratic values to come forward and use their resources to buildup pressure on Govt. of India so that it can correct its terrible fault.
Civil liberties monitoring committee render its advice to the Govt. of India that it should wake up from its dream world of impunity, stop messing up with democracy, and restrain from curbing the legitimate voice of the people of India. CLMC demand that Govt. of India should immediately stop the blockade on TCN pages and for this undemocratic act Govt. of India should submit unconditional apology to the whole TCN team.
