Four Freedom Fighters
The four days—December 17 to December 20 have a special significance in the freedom movement of India. On these four days four very courageous freedom fighters were hanged to death by colonial rulers, each of them on a separate day and at a separate jail. All of them had been arrested for their involvement or alleged involvement in the Kakori case.

These four freedom fighters were—Ashfaqullah Khan, Rajendranath Lahiri. Ramprasad Bismil and Roshan Singh. All of them were known for their very brave acts and conduct both before and after arrest.

Ashfaqullah and Ramprasad Bismil were also great poets and their poetry inspired several freedom fighters. They were great friends and have been widely recognised as symbols of communal harmony.

This year our country is observing the 90th death anniversary of these four martyrs.

Every year people observe the death anniversary of Shahid Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23. Similarly the death anniversary of these four freedom fighters should be observed in mid-December.
