World on migration

In 1945, after the excruciating end of WW2 with the intention to never witness the war like situation like this, nations united themselves against humanitarian crisis and established United Nations Organisation in the same year. The vision was crystal clear, to end the human sufferings, control over every nation, and the eradication of illiteracy and war. Though, since then UN has done its level best but, the crisis remained stable or even got worse in some regions. In this article, we will try to trace the changing behaviour of terrorism since 20th century.

The word “War” has mutated itself a lot since the last century, as it was the weapon to gain access over resources and land, but now it is a weapon to spread the religion. ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Qa’ida, and hundreds of other terrorist groups are following this moto only. According to New England Journal of Public Policy (NEJPP)-2018, till the end of 1990’s, 37 m people were fled from their houses (include both internally displaced person and refugees) mostly from the developing countries to developed countries in the search of better future due to globalisation, but in 21st century, due to ongoing conflicts, the momentum of migration elevated drastically. Number of IDP’s reached around 40m in 2017 compare to only 21m in 90’s and by the mid of 2018, no of refugees turned 23 m compared to around 16m in 90’s. UN data shows, by this time no of refugees, IDP’s, and asylum seekers count for around 70m, in spite of making various bodies to seize this crisis. Here is a list of facts related to this situation.

  • In 2019, 37000 people /day left their houses forcibly.
  • In 2018, 1 out 0f 108 was refugee, but a decade ago it was 1 out of 160.
  • In every 2 sec. one person become forcibly displaced.
  • Children under 18 constitute half of the refugees in 2018.
  • If the trend of migration continuous, by 2030 no of refuges would be 180-320m.
  • Combatant civilian death ratio has been changes from 8:1 to 1:8 from last decade.
  • 2/3 of all refugees come from 5 major countries named, Syrian Arab Republic, Afganistan, South Sudan, Myanmar, and Somalia.
  • From 2014 to 2017, ISIS killed 500 people each month on average basis.
  • More than 37,000 people have died in Africa since 2011 by Boko Haram and millions have become refugees and IDP’s.
  • In 2014 alone, around 14 m people were forced from Iraq and Syria due to ongoing conflicts, followed by Afghanistan.
  • Apart of it, no of women and children being tortured either mentally or physically is uncountable.

It is a list of just a few incidents, reality in beyond the imagination. Though, it is certain that UN had put their level best, but unfortunately the situation doesn’t seem to be so good, because the root cause is yet to be addressed. Anyhow, they are bound with a thought that migration is the solution of this problem, unfortunately, it is not. Around 1, 25,000 peacekeeping and 16,000 UNHCR workers have been stuck in this problem. According to UN report 2019, India has the most no of migrators migrated from its soil which is 17.5m, but they choose it voluntarily. No one had compelled them to do so, but from these countries people are being constantly compelled by terrorist organizations. They (terrorist) have a clear vision in their mind to replace every society and governing body with Islamic fanatics and supremacist, and those who deny to approve it, are their enemy. And somehow, people in thousands in no are being attracted by these terrorist organizations. People around the world are joining them on the name of religion, both literate and illiterate. The root cause is sick mentality based upon the cursed assumptions of religion, which needs to be settled out quickly.

Other nations are not so interested in giving shelter to refugees from these nations, not only because of economic instability, but due to security issues as well. As the report of NEJPP-2018 shows, American citizens don’t want to give shelter to refugees from the world, because they fell it too insecure. For instance, in 2017, America gave shelter to 3,024 refugees, but in 2018, that no decreased to only 11, when they were to go to 2 years under scrutiny before becoming quality to enter the nation. Other nations have the same behaviour. And they have a genuine reason to do this. That’s why, as the report of CIA shows the high fertility rate of terrorist groups in Islamic nations, it becomes their duty to be the first mover to stop this migration and bloodshed. And, being as the apex power of the world, UN have to take the control of this initiative in his hands, and must work as a leader, not as a puppet of sponsor nations. They (UN) must fulfil the condition for what they came into existence with the footing of every nation, both Islamic and non-Islamic.

To end this scenario, world needs to take multi-dimensional actions in regards with expansion in education (which is too low in aggregate Muslim community), sanctions on the illegal exploitation of resources to stop the spiral of poverty and terrorism, eradication of extremist and radical influencers, and most important, promote the true preaching to Islamic morals. That would be the strongest attack on them.
